The highlights of the trail are the penitential crosses scattered in the villages surrounding Wrocław from the south. The stone crosses commemorate the now mostly anonymous crimes committed in the Middle Ages. According to the law in force here between the 14th and 16th century, these crosses were placed by offenders at the site of murder. Many such crosses were transferred to the nearby churches, making this trail also useful for discovering the wealth of religious monuments across the communities of Siechnice, Żórawina, Kąty Wrocławskie, and Kobierzyce. You can start your ride anywhere, however, to prevent backtracking, we recommend you start in Pełcznica or Nowa Wieś Kącka and finish in Śiechnice (or the other way round).
