The Town Tower in Niemcza is a fragment that used to form a whole with the town's Upper Gate, which no longer exists. The tower was once a room where the town guards of the time had their quarters. This tower was connected to the defensive walls by a staircase and, apparently, an underground passage. The tower has one side rounded, while the other side is rectangular.
There was a moat just in front of the tower and the outer ring of walls. In the first half of the 19th century, part of the walls adjacent to the tower were demolished, but in the 1930s, the tower was used as a city prison. At that time it was also slightly expanded.
